Turning off the Windows firewall

2025-05-20Last updated

By default, the Windows Firewall uses local group policy objects (GPOs) from the hardening profiles to secure the Streamvault™ appliance. If you want to turn off the Windows Firewall for troubleshooting purposes, you need to first turn on manual firewall control in the SV Control Panel.

Procedure

  1. Open the SV Control Panel and go to the Security page.
  2. In the Hardening section, turn on the Manual firewall control option and click Apply.
Wait for the setting to be applied.
    Note:
When this option is turned on, all local GPOs are disabled. No firewall rules are affected.

  3. From the Windows Start menu, open Firewall & network protection.
