Changing the default iDRAC password

2025-06-02Last updated

If your Streamvault™ appliance supports iDRAC, it's recommended that you immediately change the default iDRAC password for the root user to prevent unauthorized access to your appliance.

Procedure

  1. Launch the Microsoft Edge web browser and go to https://idrac.local.
  2. On the Integrated Remote Access Controller login page, use the default username and password to log in:
    • Under Username, enter root.
    • Under Password, enter the password located on the Service Tag on your appliance.
  3. Once logged in, you're prompted to configure a new password for the root user. Select Change Default Password, enter and confirm the new password, and click Continue to save your changes.

After you finish

In addition to changing the default password for the root user, it's recommended that you create an alternate iDRAC user with administrative privileges and disable the root user. For more information, see Adding a new iDRAC user with administrator privileges.
