If you encrypted the OS drive on your Streamvault™ appliance with BitLocker but didn't
save a recovery key, you can create one with Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption.
What you should know
This procedure assumes you encrypted the OS drive through the SV Control
Panel.
Procedure
From the Windows Start menu, type BitLocker, and select
Manage BitLocker from the results.
The BitLocker Drive Encryption window opens. All the drives
that are connected to the appliance are listed.
In the Operating system drive section, click Turn off
BitLocker and wait for the OS drive to be decrypted. This process takes
several minutes.
Once the OS drive is decrypted, click Turn on BitLocker and wait
for the OS drive to be re-encrypted with BitLocker.
Once the OS drive is encrypted, click Back up your recovery key
next to the OS drive (C:).
The BitLocker Drive Encryption wizard opens.
Choose how you want to back up your recovery key:
Save to your Microsoft account
Save the recovery key in the recovery keys library of your Microsoft
account.
Save to a file
Save your recovery key as a plain text file on an unencrypted fixed data drive on
the appliance or on a USB key.
Print the recovery key
Print a hard copy of your recovery key.
Note:
If you select Save to a file, ensure that a fixed data drive
or USB key is available to save the recovery key.
If you're saving the recovery key to a file, select the location where you want to save
the key and click Save.
